Review Meeting of Jodhpur and Banswara Zones: Officials Must Remain in the Field and Ensure Immediate Road Repairs During Rainy Season – Deputy CM Diya Kumari

Jaipur : Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari has directed that if roads deteriorate during the monsoon season, they must be repaired immediately to prevent inconvenience to the public. She emphasized that officials should ensure that traffic is not disrupted due to damaged roads caused by rainfall and should monitor the situation on-ground.

Deputy CM Diya Kumari was addressing a review meeting on Wednesday at the Secretariat regarding the progress of road and other infrastructure projects in Jodhpur Zone I and Banswara Zone. It is noteworthy that following her instructions, weekly zone-wise review meetings of PWD works are being conducted to monitor progress.

She conducted a micro-level review of road development projects across Jodhpur, Pali, Sirohi, Phalodi, Jalore, Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh districts.

Drain Construction Alongside Atal Paths
The Deputy CM instructed that drains must be constructed along Atal Paths being developed in rural areas to ensure smoother connectivity. She also directed immediate road repairs and clearing of vegetation along roadsides, keeping the monsoon in mind.

She asked for speedy completion of works announced in the 2024-25 budget and directed that tender processes for new works announced in the 2025-26 budget be completed promptly so that construction can commence without delay.

Clear Pending Projects Due to Forest and Land Issues
Diya Kumari reviewed projects delayed due to forest clearance, land disputes, or other administrative reasons and instructed department officials to coordinate with relevant authorities to expedite their completion.

Progress Report Within Five Weeks
The Deputy CM mandated that in the next meeting, officials must present details on the number of field visits conducted and the corrective measures taken based on on-site inspections. She also directed that all works for which instructions were issued must be completed before the next scheduled review five weeks later.

During the review, she examined the progress of roads under NHAI, National Highways, RSRDC, Rajasthan State Highway Authority, patchable and non-patchable roads, and missing link categories in Jodhpur Zone I and Banswara Zone.

Additional Chief Secretary of PWD Mr. Praveen Gupta, Chief Engineer T.C. Gupta, and officers from headquarters and the concerned districts attended the meeting via video conference.

District-Level Control Rooms Also Set Up
Not only at the state level but also in every district, local control rooms have been established to ensure problems are resolved at the grassroots level. The Deputy CM instructed District Collectors and PWD officials to personally visit the sites and review the conditions.
