BIS Delegation Meets Chief Minister Dhami to Discuss Key Standardization Initiatives in Uttarakhand
Dehradun : A high-level delegation from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun branch, led by Director and Head Mr. Saurabh Tiwari, called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence and held detailed discussions on key aspects related to standardization in Uttarakhand. The delegation included representatives from the education sector, industry, and consumer organizations.
During the interaction, the BIS delegation and the Chief Minister discussed various initiatives aimed at strengthening quality standards and institutional frameworks in the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that standardization is essential for ensuring quality services and holistic development.
Key Directives by CM Dhami:
- Mandatory inclusion of Indian Standards (IS) in all government procurement processes.
- Regular training programs to be organized for departmental officers to enhance awareness and implementation of quality norms.
- Adoption of IS-based regulations (IS 73:2023) in building construction.
- Implementation of management system standards such as:
- IS 15700 (for public service quality),
- IS/ISO 9001 (for quality management systems), and
- IS/ISO 21001 (for educational organizations).
CM Dhami assured the delegation that necessary guidelines would be issued to relevant departments to provide a strong foundation for standardization efforts across the state. He added that such efforts will significantly contribute toward the vision of a “Viksit Uttarakhand” (Developed Uttarakhand).
This strategic collaboration with BIS is expected to improve efficiency, transparency, and service delivery in various government operations and public services.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Bansidhar Tiwari and other senior BIS officials.
