ENERZAL Mumbai Ultra Marathon, 2025 – The 12 Hour Run.

The ENERZAL Mumbai Ultra Marathon, a unique 100% charity event to raise fund for the Pediatric Cancer patients under treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai is being scheduled on 15th. August, 2025.

YASH KAUL – Marathoner:

Yash who is a passionate gymnast, began inculcating, training with heavier weights than usual, although the idea of Cardio was not befitting. Even, a 05 minutes run, at the behest of his Physical Trainer, on the treadmill was a nightmare.

Later, in an open organisational communication, it was decided to constitute Tata Mumbai Marathon together, and accordingly had joined Road Burners Running Group. Yash narrated, “to get trained under legendary coaches like Coach Dan and Coach Mel, with an awesome group of buddy runners was a life changing thing and I never looked back”. Recently he has imbibed the Ultra-Marathon Titbits from a veteran himself – Coach Satish Gujaran

Though my running base is short i.e., really started almost a year post Covid but it looks like a lifetime. It was Bimal Bhai from Road Burners who introduced me to this run and we did the first Mumbai-Ultra together. I thought it was a great run to test whether I can be on feet for 12 hours which paved my way and confidence to move to Ultra Marathons like Comrades and Khardungla Challenge (KC)”.

He suggested that if the running loop could be a couple of kilometres longer it would be of immense help.

While pledging the members of a larger society to be a part of this event, Yash has reaffirmed that, the Mumbai Ultra-Marathon is organised for one of the most novel causes … devoid of any form of individual monetary gain, or to manifest fame. The run represents the true spirit of Mumbai in many ways … being for the others for a cause … demonstrating resilience beyond odds.

For all the runners “… if you are at some point planning to do an Ultra like Comrades or Khardungla or Border… this is a good and easy and stress free platform to test where you stand”.

UMESH PRAKASH BOOB – From Asthma to Ultras; A Journey of Grit and Giving Back:

Umesh Prakash Boob, hailing from Nashik is just 45, began the journey of running seven years ago with a 10 Kilometres run alongside his friend Hemant Sir. Born asthmatic, he even struggled to climb stairs or sleep at night during severe attacks throughout his school years. Sports was like a distant dream. However, after years of treatment he had recovered.

Bit nostalgic about being ‘Cripple to Creative’, Umesh told Maverick News, “I took up cycling, and soon after, running entered my life—bringing strength, satisfaction, and a sense of rebirth. Since then, I’ve completed numerous Half Marathons, 8 Full Marathons (including TMM), 4 Tata Ultra 50K runs, 2 Comrades Marathons in South Africa, and the grueling 72K Khardungla Challenge at the world’s highest motorable road”.

He went on commending, “Behind my every finish line stands the unwavering support of my wife Priti, my family, and mentors like Hemant Sir, Chetan Sir, and our running Guru Mr. Satish Gujaran Sir“.

Last year, he had participated in the Tata Ultra 12-Hour Run for a cause close to his heart — childhood cancer awareness. Having lost his beloved father who had fought to his last breath against the dreadful cancer, Umesh reiterated, “I dedicated my run in his memory, urging society to recognise that early detection and a healthy lifestyle can make cancer curable”.

According to the best of his belief, The Tata Ultra event is exceptionally well-organised, with excellent facilities, hydration, medical, and physiotherapy support.

With his paramount experience, he has suggested to consider shifting the run timing to 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, which could help manage traffic and allow runners to give their best mileage during cooler hours. Evening participation can also create greater visibility and public engagement with the cause.

Running, for me, is not just sport—it’s healing, hope, and giving back”.
