CM Dhami Hands Over Appointment Letters to 220 Medical Officers
Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 220 newly appointed medical officers during the Uttarakhand Medical Health Empowerment Campaign organized by the Health Department at Mukhya Sevak Sadan. On this occasion, he congratulated the doctors and described the moment as an important milestone in their lives.
The Chief Minister said that these doctors are not only medical practitioners but also the “guardians of health” in Devbhoomi (the land of the gods). He urged them to dedicate themselves with compassion, service, and commitment to making healthcare affordable, accessible, and of higher standards in the state.
Quoting poet Gumani Pant, he said, “First preserve the body, only then can spiritual practice be pursued.” In this spirit, he called upon doctors to heal people’s health with their knowledge and skills.
Highlighting achievements, the Chief Minister said that more than 11 lakh patients in the state have already availed cashless treatment worth over ₹21 crore. Specialized medical facilities for cardiology and neurology are now available in Srinagar, while cancer treatment services are provided in Haldwani. He added that even in remote areas, emergency health services through helicopters are proving to be life-saving — as witnessed recently during the disaster in Dharali.
He further noted that free health check-ups, modernization of health centers, recruitment of paramedical staff, and expansion of telemedicine services have given a new dimension to healthcare in Uttarakhand. The government is working towards establishing a medical college in every district so that people can access quality medical facilities locally.
“Uttarakhand is setting new milestones in every field and is actively contributing to the vision of a Developed India,” Dhami said. He stressed that the resolve of a Developed India will only be fulfilled when Uttarakhand progresses, and the state’s development will be realized through the growth of its society, citizens, and every sector.
Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that under the Chief Minister’s guidance, the Health Department is setting new records in appointments. He informed that out of the 220 newly recruited doctors, except for the four under the differently-abled quota, all will be posted in remote areas. He also announced upcoming recruitments for more doctors, nurses, and supporting staff.
He further stated that from September 17 (Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday) to October 2, large-scale blood donation camps will be organized at 220 locations across the state, and health camps will be set up in every village, benefitting more than 25 lakh people.
Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that ensuring better availability of doctors and supporting staff in remote regions will inspire many doctors to willingly serve there. He added that even today, after God, people hold doctors in the highest regard, and therefore, doctors must work to further strengthen the trust people place in them.
The event was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Khajan Das, Rajkumar Pori, and Sarita Kapoor, State Vice President of National Health Mission Suresh Bhatt, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Director General of Health Sunita Tamta, along with concerned doctors and officials.
