GST Rate Cut is Like a Bouquet for All Sectors: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has welcomed the decision of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council to reduce GST rates, describing it as a commendable step by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. CM Dr. Yadav said that by revising the GST rates, the Government of India has wholeheartedly ensured benefits for every section of society. He recalled that in his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Shri Modi had promised citizens that they would soon receive significant relief. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, we have seen that in less than a month, PM Shri Modi has fulfilled this promise. CM Dr. Yadav stated that these revolutionary changes in GST will benefit nearly 90 percent of India’s population—over 1.25 billion citizens. Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), along with cottage and small-scale industries, will also gain from the reforms.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy and is rapidly advancing toward the third position. CM Dr. Yadav expressed these views on Thursday in a message issued from Ujjain, following the revision of GST slabs. He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Modi and Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for this historic decision.
Zero GST on School Supplies a Significant Step
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that the GST Council’s decision to reduce GST rates will provide comprehensive benefits across all sectors of society. He noted that this relief extends to both industries and the general population. CM Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is enhancing its global reputation. During international instability, the government has prioritised the protection of citizens, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable groups. The exemption of health insurance from taxation is expected to deliver further support to the healthcare sector. The revised GST rates will be implemented from Navratri, September 22, and are expected to benefit economically weaker sections, the middle class and agricultural producers. The reduction in GST will lower the prices of essential food items such as bread, parathas, paneer and chhena. As these products are also significant export commodities, the reform is anticipated to provide additional advantages to farmers.
CM Dr. Yadav stated that reducing GST on school supplies, i.e., maps, charts, globes, pencils, sharpeners, copies and notebooks, from 12% to zero, is a highly significant step for school kids and youth.
Zero GST on Health Insurance a Revolutionary Step: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav called the removal of health insurance policies from the 18% GST slab, making them tax-free, a significant step. He said, exempting several life-saving medicines, particularly for cancer patients, from GST will provide direct relief to those in need.
CM Dr. Yadav said that agriculture remains the top priority for the government. To safeguard Indian agriculture from global challenges, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has reduced the GST rate on tractor tyres, parts, biopesticides, micronutrients, drip irrigation systems, sprinklers and horticulture machinery from 18% to 5%. He said, this reflects the government’s firm commitment to farmer welfare.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also noted that reducing GST on vehicles with engine capacity up to 1200 cc from 28% to 18% will make car ownership more accessible for the middle class. He added that electronic appliances such as projectors, satellite dishes and washing machines will also become more affordable.
CM Dr. Yadav assured that the Madhya Pradesh government will act promptly to ensure citizens receive these benefits as soon as possible.
