Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Calls for Urgent Clean-Up Campaign in Pune
Mumbai : Following heavy rainfall in Pune and its surrounding areas, mud and sludge have entered homes in locations such as Sinhagad Road, Patil Estate near Sanchayani Bridge, Ekta Nagar, and Phulpachi Wadi. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the district administration to launch an urgent cleanliness campaign to remove the debris, utilizing the assistance of the municipal corporation and private cleaning companies.
The Chief Minister instructed District Collectors to immediately report the damage to houses and agriculture caused by the floods. Given the health risks posed to residents by the mud and filth, CM Shinde emphasized the need for a deep clean campaign in the affected areas.
To expedite the clean-up efforts, private cleaning companies Sumit Enterprises and BVG have been enlisted. Sumit Enterprises will provide 500 sanitation workers, and BVG will provide 100 cleaning workers to assist in clearing the mud from the homes.
Additionally, the Chief Minister has instructed the municipal administration to spray disinfectants to prevent the spread of diseases due to the floodwater and mud.
