Local Products Are the Foundation of the State’s Economic Prosperity: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma
Jaipur, January 2026 : Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma said that district-based local products form the core foundation of the state’s economic prosperity. In this direction, the state government has launched the innovative Panch Gaurav programme in every district to conserve and promote local uniqueness and heritage.
Chairing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday, Shri Sharma directed that long-term action plans be prepared on a priority basis for the identified elements of each district under the Panch Gaurav programme. He also instructed the concerned nodal departments to regularly review development and conservation activities under the initiative.
The Chief Minister said that students in schools should also be given detailed information about the Panch Gaurav programme so that they become aware of their district’s unique identity. He further emphasised ensuring maximum public participation in the programme’s activities, so that common citizens can develop a direct connection with it.
Brand Local Products Through Innovation
Shri Sharma said that selected agricultural products of all districts should be branded through innovation to give them a distinct identity. He directed the Forest Department to develop plants based on local specialities and to appoint Vriksh Mitras (Tree Friends). He also instructed the Sports Department to connect local youth with sports activities in every district.
Improve Tourism Facilities, Create Local Employment Opportunities
The Chief Minister said that under the “One District, One Tourist Destination” initiative, basic infrastructure such as roads and parking should be developed at tourist sites to provide better facilities to visitors and create employment opportunities at the local level. He also directed the formulation of policies for capacity building of guides and other stakeholders associated with the tourism sector.
It is noteworthy that under the Panch Gaurav programme, each district is promoting one product, one crop, one sport, one plant species and one tourist destination. Through this initiative, conservation, promotion, encouragement and recognition of local and distinctive products are being strengthened. During the meeting, officials gave a detailed presentation on the activities being implemented under the programme.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, along with senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office and the departments of Industries, Forest and Environment, Tourism, Agriculture, Sports and Planning.
