Telangana Unveils Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–30 at Davos

A defining moment for Telangana on the global stage, the State unveiled its Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026 – 30 at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos

Davos, January 2026: In a landmark moment for Telangana, the State unveiled its Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026 – 30 at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos. Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Ministers Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Shri Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, presented a forward-looking policy framework aimed at positioning Telangana among the world’s top three life sciences clusters by 2030, leveraging the State’s robust capabilities in pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and biotechnology.

Telangana is already home to over 2,000 life sciences companies, 250+ USFDA-approved manufacturing facilities, and contributes nearly one-third of global vaccine production. The new policy focuses on shifting from volume-driven growth to value-led, innovation-centric development, fostering cutting-edge research, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable practices.

Key strategic focus areas include pharmaceuticals and vaccine manufacturing, frontier R&D, advanced biomanufacturing, biologics and biosimilars, precision medicine, personalized therapies, digital health, diagnostics, medical electronics, clinical research, and the establishment of Global Value & Innovation Centers (GVCs/GICs).

The policy sets ambitious goals of attracting USD 25 billion in investments and creating 5 lakh new jobs over its five-year horizon. Telangana plans to achieve this through state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the expansion of Genome Valley, development of Medical Devices Park, creation of Green Pharma City, establishment of 10 Pharma Villages, bio-innovation and bio-manufacturing clusters, and Centers of Excellence, all incorporating green and zero-liquid-discharge industrial practices to ensure sustainability.

A significant emphasis is placed on talent development, with industry-aligned skilling programs, continuous learning initiatives, and the establishment of a Telangana School of Life Sciences, supported by institutions such as TASK and Young India Skills University. The policy also enhances the ease of doing business with streamlined regulations, time-bound approvals via TG-iPASS, and dedicated support for startups, MSMEs, and global investors.

Governance and execution will be led by the Industries & Commerce Department, in coordination with the IT, Electronics & Communications Department, and implemented through the Telangana Life Sciences Foundation (TLSF) as the nodal agency, with support from industry, academia, and global partners.

Covering 2026 – 30, the Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy reaffirms Telangana’s commitment to becoming a global hub for life sciences and healthcare innovation, driving economic growth, job creation, and contributing to global health impact from the State.
