New Delhi, Sept 2026 : Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday said securing a government job was an important achievement, but serving citizens and society was the greater responsibility that came with it.
Naidu was speaking in the context of the nationwide Rozgar Mela being conducted under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said it was particularly encouraging to distribute appointment letters to 200 young people in Visakhapatnam as part of the employment initiative.
“Getting a job is an achievement, but serving the people is the real responsibility,” Naidu said, congratulating the newly recruited youth.
He said more than 51,000 young people across the country were joining government service through the latest edition of the Rozgar Mela and conveyed his best wishes to all the new recruits.
Naidu urged the young employees to view their appointments as an opportunity to build confidence, serve society and contribute to public service.
He also encouraged them to continue learning, upgrade their professional skills and adapt to changing requirements so they could provide better services to citizens.
“May this job bring new confidence to your life. A new opportunity to serve society,” Naidu said in a post on X, while calling upon the recruits to continuously enhance their capabilities.
In another message, he congratulated all 51,000 youth joining government service and described the appointments as the beginning of a new chapter in nation-building.
“A new job. A new responsibility. A new chapter in nation-building,” he said.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also participated in the 20th edition of the Rozgar Mela, saying he was privileged to be with young people in Sri Amritsar Sahib.
Puri said India’s youth were playing an active role in the country’s development journey towards a “Viksit Bharat”. He noted that young people were contributing through their ideas, aspirations and determination rather than merely witnessing the transformation underway.
According to Puri, the latest recruits were entering public service at a time when technology is rapidly changing governance and workplaces, while digital platforms are bringing citizens closer to the government.
However, he stressed that technology alone could not replace integrity and empathy in public service.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s message of “Nagrik Devo Bhava”, Puri said public servants should place citizens at the centre of their responsibilities. He urged young recruits to carry this principle into their careers and focus on serving the country and its people.
Puri also highlighted the expanding opportunities available to India’s youth through sectors such as startups, manufacturing, digital services, electronics, emerging technologies and energy.
He said Free Trade Agreements were opening new markets and creating additional avenues for partnerships and employment.
The minister further highlighted reforms and initiatives in the energy sector, saying they were contributing to India’s energy security and green transition. Alongside strengthening existing infrastructure, he pointed to initiatives aimed at developing offshore energy potential through the Samudra Manthan Mission and generating clean energy and livelihoods through the GOBARdhan scheme.
