Andhra Pradesh CM says Amaravati will be developed as a future-ready, environment-friendly city balancing nature, technology and modern infrastructure
Bengaluru, September 2026: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday called for a shift from conventional “grey growth” to green, circular and regenerative development while inaugurating The Earth Center – Vista Spaces, a premium commercial office complex in Bengaluru’s Whitefield.
Naidu, who was the chief guest at the inauguration, jointly inaugurated the project with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at the KIADB Export Promotion Industrial Area in Whitefield.
Recalling his contribution to the development of Cyberabad during the undivided Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said he now had an opportunity to help shape another modern city through the development of Amaravati. He said Amaravati was being envisioned as a future-ready and environment-friendly city that would integrate nature, technology and modern infrastructure.
From Grey Growth to Green Growth
Naidu said rapid urbanisation over several decades had largely relied on conventional infrastructure and concrete-heavy development. He called for a new approach that would allow economic and urban growth without compromising environmental sustainability.
“The world must now move away from concrete jungles and think about environment-friendly constructions,” Naidu said, stressing that development should continue while maintaining a balance with nature.
He advocated green, circular and regenerative growth and urged developers to focus on smart and resource-efficient buildings rather than structures that consume large quantities of energy and other resources.
Praising The Earth Center, Naidu said its design reflected contemporary environmental challenges and demonstrated how workplaces could integrate sustainability with modern requirements. He particularly appreciated the use of recycled terracotta and other materials that combine natural elements with technology and contemporary office spaces.
Climate Responsibility
Naidu said climate change should no longer be treated as a future concern, describing it as a present-day crisis requiring collective action. He urged individuals, businesses and governments to adopt sustainable practices and promote net-zero approaches in construction.
He stressed the importance of expanding solar power and making greater use of renewable energy. According to Naidu, rooftops could be used for generating electricity, while water should be recycled and waste converted into useful resources.
“Every rooftop can become a power plant. Every drop of water can be reused. Every waste can be turned into a resource,” he said, adding that protecting water and soil was equivalent to creating wealth.
He also underlined the importance of composting, recycling and reuse in achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat, Swachh Karnataka and Swachh Andhra Pradesh.
Amaravati’s Green Vision
Drawing a parallel with zero-budget natural farming, Naidu said the principles of sustainability and resource conservation should also guide urban development.
He said Andhra Pradesh was planning around 165 GW of renewable energy capacity and would contribute to India’s broader clean-energy ambitions. Against this backdrop, he said Amaravati was being developed with an emphasis on environmental sustainability.
Naidu congratulated the Vista Spaces team and architect Venkataramanan Associates for incorporating environmental considerations and human needs into the design of The Earth Center.
The Earth Center
Developed by Vista Spaces, The Earth Center covers nearly nine lakh square feet and comprises two basement levels and eight floors, including the ground floor.
The commercial complex has been designed in a biophilic style, incorporating elements intended to create a stronger connection between occupants and nature. The approach is aimed at supporting employee well-being and productivity in the workplace.
Flexible workspace providers, including WeWork and The Executive Centre, have established facilities at the complex.
Following the inauguration, Naidu stayed overnight in Bengaluru and was scheduled to travel to his home constituency of Kuppam on Monday morning.
