Amer Fort’s Tourism Gets a Boost Under Panch Gaurav Yojana, World-Class Facilities for Visitors

Jaipur, February 2026 : In line with the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and his commitment to strengthening tourism as a key pillar of the state’s economy, extensive development works are progressing rapidly at Amer Fort, which has been selected as the district’s flagship tourist destination under the Panch Gaurav Yojana (One District–One Tourist Destination). Acting on the directions of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, the Jaipur district administration, in coordination with the Tourism Department and related agencies, is upgrading and modernizing basic amenities at the fort to ensure a world-class experience for domestic and international tourists.

Additional District Collector Ms. Vinita Singh said that Amer Fort is a proud symbol of Rajasthan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, attracting lakhs of visitors every year. Keeping tourist convenience and heritage conservation as top priorities, the state government has sanctioned ₹89 lakh under the Panch Gaurav Yojana for various development works. Baby feeding rooms are being constructed at Man Singh Palace and Diwan-e-Aam for the convenience of women tourists. Regular operation of fountains and cascades at Dalaram Bagh and Rambagh is also being ensured to enhance the beauty and appeal of the परिसर.

Chief Planning Officer Dr. Sudip Kumawat stated that to streamline and safeguard the drinking water supply, a large water tank is being constructed near the Man Singh Gate side. This will ensure uninterrupted water supply across the palace complex and help protect the historic structures from leakage and seepage. To promote night tourism, soft and aesthetic lighting is being developed at Sukh Niwas and Man Singh Palace so that visitors can enjoy the fort’s grandeur in the evening hours. In addition, a Sunset Point and a Couple Wedding Photo Site are being developed, positioning Amer as an attractive tourism hub and a destination wedding venue. Special emphasis is also being laid on promotion, branding, and marketing to boost tourism.

Dr. Kumawat further informed that in the Budget 2026–27 presented by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, a provision of ₹50 crore has been made for developing world-class facilities such as a digital museum, modern signage, advanced lighting, and organized parking across Amer Fort and the entire Amer town. This initiative will give Amer a stronger presence on the international tourism map.

District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni has directed that all works be completed in accordance with quality standards, timelines, and heritage conservation norms. He emphasized that the comprehensive development of Amer Fort will not only increase tourism revenue but also generate local employment and provide momentum to handicrafts, guide services, transport, and other tourism-based economic activities. Through the Panch Gaurav Yojana, the conservation, enhancement, and modernization of Jaipur district’s historic heritage is being ensured—an important and far-reaching step toward taking Rajasthan’s tourism sector to new heights.
