Survey Needed to Provide Additional Water to MIDC for Industries: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai : Various industrial groups are investing in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the Water Resources Department to conduct a survey of available water in various projects to meet the demands of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for industrial purposes.

A meeting was held at the Sahyadri Guest House under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis to discuss the allocation of additional water from Water Resources Department projects to the MIDC for industrial use. The meeting was attended by Industries Minister Uday Samant, Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department Deepak Kapoor, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, Secretary of the Water Resources Department Sanjay Belsare, and Executive Director of Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation Atul Kapole, along with other senior officials.

Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the importance of assessing water availability in the region to ensure a sufficient supply for the growing industrial sector. He instructed that a survey of water available in various irrigation projects within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region be conducted and a plan formulated accordingly.

Industries Minister Samant suggested that a detailed survey of the available water in various projects be conducted and presented to the high authority committee. He also recommended making a practical decision regarding water reservations, considering the specific needs of different project areas.

With future industrial growth in mind, the Industries Department has requested additional water from projects like Barvi, Rajnala Bandhara, Patalganga, Surya, and Bhatsa Upsa Irrigation. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis assured that a positive decision would be made in this regard.
