Sports Infrastructure Development Is Helping State Talent Shine: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai
Chhattisgarh’s daughter Akanksha Satyavanshi honoured by the Chief Minister
Raipur, March 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the continuous development of sports infrastructure in the state is helping talented athletes from Chhattisgarh shine at national and international levels.
Speaking at a dignified ceremony held at his residence in Nava Raipur, the Chief Minister honoured Akanksha Satyavanshi, physiotherapist of the India women’s national cricket team and a daughter of Chhattisgarh, by presenting her with a Tata Sierra car as a gift. Congratulating her, he said the daughters of the country have brought pride to India by winning the World Cup. He also appreciated Tata Motors for gifting cars to encourage and honour the women’s cricket team.
Sai said there is no shortage of sporting talent in the state and the government is committed to promoting sports. He stated that the development of sports infrastructure is providing better training opportunities to athletes, which is helping them perform well at national and international competitions.
The Chief Minister added that initiatives like the Bastar Olympics and the Surguja Olympics are encouraging youth from remote regions of the state to participate in sports. Hosting the National Tribal Games has also created a positive atmosphere for sports development in the state.
Sai said the historic achievement of the women’s cricket team would inspire young girls across the state to pursue their dreams. Recalling his earlier meeting with Akanksha, he said her confidence and energy had been highly inspiring then and continue to be so even today. He expressed confidence that the same spirit would help the team achieve success in future World Cups as well.
Chief Minister’s Encouragement Always Boosts Morale: Akanksha Satyavanshi
Akanksha Satyavanshi said that after returning from the World Cup victory, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was the first to congratulate and encourage the entire team. As a daughter of the state, she was also personally invited to meet him.
She said the affection and encouragement from the Chief Minister, like that of a guardian, always boosts her confidence and morale.
Akanksha added that receiving this honour from the Chief Minister made the day memorable for her and that the moment would always remain special in her life. She also shared her experiences as a physiotherapist with the team and her journey during the World Cup campaign.
The event was also attended by Rampratap Singh, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, members of Akanksha’s family, and representatives from Tata Motors.
It is noteworthy that Tata Motors has decided to gift Tata Sierra vehicles to members of the Indian women’s cricket team to celebrate their historic victory in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. As part of this initiative, Akanksha Satyavanshi, who is from Chhattisgarh and serves as the team’s physiotherapist, was also presented with the car.
The Indian women’s cricket team created history last year by winning its first Women’s World Cup title. To honour this achievement, Tata Motors announced that each player of the team would be gifted the top-end model of the Sierra SUV.
