Abujhmadia Youth Experience Democratic Functioning for the First Time

Raipur, March 2026: Youth from the remote and previously Naxal-affected regions of Narayanpur district experienced the functioning of democracy firsthand during a visit to the new Assembly building in Nava Raipur. The group, belonging to the particularly vulnerable Abujhmadia tribal community, observed legislative proceedings and gained insights into governance and the role of elected representatives.

The visit was organized under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Promotion Scheme and included around 147 youths from highly sensitive areas such as Kutul, Orchha, Kalmanar, Jharawahi, Kodkanar, Murehnar, Gumiyabeda, Murhanar, and Nednar. For most of them, it was their first visit to Raipur, making the experience both new and inspiring.

During their visit to the Assembly, the youths witnessed Question Hour, debates, and the decision-making process, helping them better understand the legislative system and democratic governance. They were also briefed in detail about how policies are formulated and implemented for public welfare.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma interacted warmly with the youths, listening to their experiences and encouraging them to actively participate in strengthening democracy. He urged them to move forward with education, awareness, and a positive mindset.

He remarked that youths emerging from such sensitive regions with new aspirations symbolize a bright future for the state. He also discussed their perspectives on development taking place alongside the decline of Naxalism and motivated them to engage in self-help groups and cooperative societies. He encouraged them to enhance their livelihoods by processing and promoting locally available minor forest produce and to take advantage of various government schemes.

Forest Minister and local MLA Kedar Kashyap also met the youths and interacted with them about their experiences. He sought feedback on development and facilities in their areas, while the participants described the visit as a significant and inspiring moment in their lives.
