E-Governance Enables Faster Direct Deposit for ‘Chief Minister-Mazi Ladki Bahin’ Scheme – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai, Sept 3: E-Governance is not just a technology but a medium to change the mindset of people. It brings transparency and fosters trust in the administration among the common citizens. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized that the first two installments of the ‘Chief Minister-Majhi Ladki Baheen’ scheme were directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ accounts in a very short time, thanks to the implementation of e-Governance.
The 27th National Conference on e-Governance was organized in Mumbai. The two-day conference, themed “Developed India: Secure and Sustainable e-Service Delivery,” was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shinde. Also in attendance were Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, MLA Bharat Gogavle, MLA Mahendra Dalvi, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Central Secretary V. Srinivas, Central Secretary S. Krishnan, Central Additional Secretary Punit Yadav, Principal Secretary of the Information Technology Department Parag Jain Nainutiya, policymakers, award winners, representatives from across the country, government officials from various states, and experts.
Chief Minister Shinde highlighted that in Maharashtra, property registration related to house purchase and sale is now possible at any sub-registrar’s office. Referring to the concept of good governance, he cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s phrase, “minimum government, maximum governance.” He added that the online process for property transactions is underway, and now all filing work is conducted through e-office in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. In the future, all ministerial work will also be managed via e-office, with all services provided online under the Seva Akhtar initiative.
A central registration center has been established near the entrance of the ministry, where all correspondence is now accepted, saving people time and effort. With this in mind, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are moving toward becoming data center hubs. Chief Minister Shinde noted that Maharashtra has skilled manpower for this, and technology is now reaching rural areas.
Maharashtra is the first state to implement an e-governance system, and the government has formulated an information technology policy. In the future, AI technology will be applied in industries such as agriculture and healthcare. The aim is to expedite administrative work while ensuring that ordinary citizens receive transparent justice, Chief Minister Shinde stated.
On this occasion, the General Administration Department was renamed from “Administrative Reforms, Structure and Procedures” to “Administrative Innovation, Excellence, and Good Governance” by the Chief Minister.
