Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga Inaugurates Empanelled Survey Firms for the Land Revenue & Settlement Department

Aizawl : Yesterday evening, Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga presided over the inauguration of the Empanelled Survey Firms for the Land Revenue & Settlement Department at RB McCabe Hall, Aijal Club. The event was attended by Forest Minister Pu Lalthansanga, Revenue Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova, Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, AMC Mayor, and other government officials.

In his speech, Pu K. Sapdanga highlighted the importance of the empanelled survey firms, stating, “Since the idea of empanelled survey firms was first introduced, I’ve been reflecting on it. In the past, I’ve struggled to acquire land even in Aizawl due to delays in approvals by the Revenue Department. After a long wait, I finally received approval, but by then, I had already paid more tax than necessary. Once my land was verified, I had to pay even higher taxes. It was frustrating. However, with the introduction of these empanelled survey firms, I believe such challenges will be resolved. From now on, the government can move forward with ease, and I am confident this will bring significant improvement. A prosperous government relies on taxes, and if the government thrives, so will the people.

We are introducing property taxes, and though paying taxes may initially feel burdensome, it is essential for progress. Our empanelled firms are not merely for revenue generation but to ensure proper land management. I believe this initiative will greatly benefit the people. Hard work will bring rewards, and those working diligently for the state’s progress will be blessed. For development to continue, the people must pay taxes. I’m proud that today we’re moving forward with this initiative. Our empanelled firms are here to serve the public efficiently, ensuring a smooth process for all.”

Revenue Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova also delivered a speech, stating, “Today’s event is being recorded, and it will serve as a reminder of the progress we will continue to make. This initiative was long overdue, and I am pleased that it has finally come to fruition. The hard work of the department’s employees has paid off, and we are now moving forward with the empanelled firms. These firms have been planned for a long time, and it is a relief to see this vision becoming a reality. I’ve seen dedication from everyone involved, and I’m confident we will see great success.

We are implementing best practices from other states, and my primary hope is that people who lack proper land documentation will be able to get their land verified easily. Today, we’re beginning work with 13 firms, and I urge them to carry out their tasks diligently and with integrity. The Land Revenue Department must continue working hard for the people, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all dealings. With more central funding available, we are planning to expand settlement offices in Aizawl North and South. We are fortunate to have dedicated staff, and I thank them for their service. Moving forward, this department will prioritize public service and continue its mission to benefit all citizens.”

The event was led by Dr. H. Lalthlangliana, MCS, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Land Revenue & Settlement Department. A technical report was presented by Pu V. Lalduhzuala, Director of Land Revenue & Settlement, while Pu Lalhmunsanga, Additional Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Land Revenue & Settlement Department, delivered the vote of thanks.
