Union Transport Minister’s gift to Chhattisgarh, Rs 11 thousand crore approved for development of roads
Chhattisgarh’s road network is going to get stronger. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has given a big gift to the state by approving Rs 11 thousand crore for Chhattisgarh. Four major national highways will be developed with this amount, which will further strengthen Chhattisgarh’s connectivity. Mr Gadkari made this announcement during a review meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai in New Delhi.
A review meeting was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, in which Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai participated. The progress of the ongoing National Highway projects in Chhattisgarh was discussed in the meeting. During this, Union Ministers of State for Road Transport Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw were also present.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed the progress of ongoing projects in Chhattisgarh so that the works can be executed on time and efficiently. The reasons for delay in projects and the obstacles were discussed in the meeting. In this regard, instructions were given to the Forest Department to remove obstacles related to clearance, revenue and mining and to speed up the projects. In the review meeting, an attempt was made to remove the obstacles by discussing all pending issues. Union Minister Shri Gadkari directed to complete all the ongoing and proposed projects within the time limit.
The progress of national highways was discussed in the meeting, along with this, approval was given to prepare detailed project reports (DPR) for four major highways. The four main projects discussed in the meeting include Urga-Katghora bypass (NH-149B), Basna to Sarangarh (Manikpur) feeder route, Sarangarh to Raigarh feeder route, and Raipur-Lakhanadon economic corridor. The total length of these projects is 236.1 km. For which the Union Minister has approved a total of 9208 crores.
At the same time, eight works worth Rs 908 crore have been approved under the Central Road Fund.
In the meeting, the four lane widening work of Keshkal Ghat and Dhamtari-Jagdalpur road was also approved.
Instructions were given to complete the Raipur-Visakhapatnam road and Bilaspur-Urga-Pathalgaon road under NHAI within the time limit. At the same time, instructions were given to determine the agency for Pathalgaon to Kunkuri-Jharkhand border road within a month.
In the meeting, consent was given to construct a grade separator between Tatibandh and Telibandha in Raipur city and a grade separator on the road connecting Vidhansabha Road to Bilaspur Road (Dhaneli) and Raipur Expressway.
Apart from this, an additional amount of Rs 1200 crore has been approved for the development of roads.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai expressed his gratitude to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and said, “This is a big gift for the development of Chhattisgarh. Industrial and business activities of Chhattisgarh will get a new direction.” He also said that the expansion of road network will further improve the connectivity of the rural areas of the state, which will bring positive changes in the lives of local people.
He instructed the officials to review all these projects regularly and take every necessary step to complete the work on time. The Chief Minister also said that he himself will monitor the progress of these projects and call for a report every week, so that there is no delay in the work. He said that the Chhattisgarh government will complete these projects within the time limit with full sincerity, so that the citizens of the state can get better basic facilities and the pace of development will accelerate.
Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. P. Dayanand, Secretary of Public Works Department Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of Forest Department Mr. Amarnath Prasad along with other officers of Public Works Department, Revenue, Mining and Forest departments of the state were also present in the meeting.
Key points of the projects-
1. Approval of 8 works worth Rs 908 crore: Eight projects have been approved under the Central Road Fund (CRF) scheme. These projects will improve Chhattisgarh’s road infrastructure, boosting the state’s connectivity and trade.
2. Four-lane widening of Keshkal Ghat: The four-lane widening work of Keshkal Ghat has been approved, which is likely to get approval within a month. This project will help in increasing traffic ease and road safety in the area.
3. Four-lane widening of Dhamtari-Jagdalpur road: Approval has also been given for the widening of this important road, which will improve the connectivity of South Chhattisgarh and provide great relief to the passengers.
4. Instructions for completion of all ongoing and proposed projects within the time limit: Instructions have been given to complete all the projects within the stipulated time limit. Its purpose is to ensure that the development of roads and highways in Chhattisgarh can be done rapidly.
5. Raipur-Visakhapatnam and Bilaspur-Urga-Pathalgaon roads under NHAI: Instructions have been given for timely completion of construction of these major national highways, which will improve the connectivity of the state.
6. Pathalgaon to Kunkuri-Jharkhand Border Road: The agency for this project will be selected within a month to strengthen the connectivity of the border area.
7. Construction of grade separator in Raipur city: Approval has also been given for the construction of grade separator at Sarona, Udyog Bhawan and Telibandha between Tatibandh to Telibandha in Raipur city, which will reduce traffic congestion in the city.
8. Grade separator from Vidhansabha Road to Bilaspur Road (Dhaneli) and Raipur-Dhamtari road: Consent has been given for construction of grade separators at both these places as well, which will reduce traffic pressure and provide convenience to passengers.
