Sanjay Lohiya, IAS, Takes Charge as CMD of NALCO
NEW DELHI: Sanjay Lohiya, an IAS officer from the 1994 batch (Assam-Meghalaya cadre), has assumed the role of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NALCO. Lohiya joined the Ministry of Mines as Joint Secretary in October 2020 and was promoted to Additional Secretary in March 2021.
A graduate of Delhi University, Lohiya entered the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and has since held various prominent roles. Prior to his role in the Ministry of Mines, he served as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Assam.
In his career with the Government of Assam, Lohiya worked in multiple departments, including Finance, Agriculture, and Urban Development, gaining extensive experience across sectors. He has also served in the Government of India as Director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare between 2011 and 2016.
