CM Fadnavis: Will not allow injustice to Marathi people under any circumstances – on the Kalyan incident
Nagpur : The state government has taken serious note of the incident of attacks on Marathi people in a society in Kalyan. A case has been filed against the guilty, and further action is underway. Mumbai is the identity of Marathi people. Under no circumstances will injustice to Marathi people be allowed, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Council.
In response to the discussion raised under Rule 289 of the Legislative Council by member Adv. Anil Parab regarding the attacks on a Marathi family in Kalyan, Chief Minister Fadnavis replied. During this discussion, Legislative Council members Adv. Parab, Shashikant Shinde, Arun alias Bhai Jagtap, and Sachin Ahir participated.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “In a society in Kalyan, Akhilesh Shukla and his wife insulted a Marathi person during a quarrel. A case has been registered at the Khadakpada police station in this matter. Shukla, an employee of MTDC, is under suspension, and action to suspend him is in process.”
“Maharashtra, Mumbai is the identity of Marathi people. Since Mumbai is the financial capital, people from different communities and societies from all over the country come here and live peacefully. Many people from Uttar Pradesh speak Marathi fluently and celebrate many Marathi festivals. However, it is these few people who disrupt the social harmony,” said the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “The Constitution gives the freedom to choose the kind of food one should have. But no one has the right to restrict anyone in this way. Discrimination based on this is unacceptable. If such complaints arise, appropriate action will be taken.”
“It is our responsibility to maintain the diversity of the country. Regional identity, i.e., being Marathi, is something we are proud of, and if there is any attack on it, we will not tolerate it,” the Chief Minister also stated.
