Revenue Department
One-Year Extension for Land Conversion Amnesty Scheme
The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved a one-year extension for the amnesty scheme allowing the conversion of Class-2 government leasehold lands into Class-1 freehold lands at concessional premium rates.
The deadline for paying the premium for converting government-allotted agricultural, residential, commercial, or industrial land from Class-2 to Class-1 had expired. However, with several pending applications across the state, there was a growing demand for an extension. The scheme will now be applicable to pending cases as well as new applications submitted by December 31, 2025. A formal notification will be issued soon.
Water Resources Department
₹315.05 Crore Approved for Strengthening and Leak Prevention at Temghar Dam
The Cabinet has approved ₹315.05 crore for reinforcement and leakage prevention at the Temghar Dam in Mulshi Taluka, Pune district. The dam supplies 3.409 TMC of drinking water to Pune city and provides irrigation for 1,000 hectares through Kolhapur-style weirs in Mulshi Taluka.
Due to significant water leakage from the dam, large quantities of water are being wasted, posing a risk to both the dam structure and Pune city’s water security. Reports from multiple committees have highlighted the urgency of immediate repair and reinforcement measures. The approved budget will be used to stop the leakage, ensuring better water availability for farmers and enhanced safety for Pune city.
Soil & Water Conservation Department
₹170 Crore Allocated for Submerged Barrages in Koyna Reservoir
The Cabinet has approved ₹170 crore for the construction of 25 submerged barrages in the Koyna Reservoir in Mahabaleshwar and Jawali talukas, Satara district.
During February to May, the water levels in the Koyna Reservoir drop significantly, leading to severe drinking and irrigation water shortages for local residents. To address this issue, the state government will construct submerged barrages, ensuring water availability even during low reservoir levels. The Cabinet approved this as a special provision to support local communities.
