Maharashtra Cabinet Decisions
➡️ Law & Justice Department
Establishment of Civil Court (Junior Division) and Judicial Magistrate First Class Court in Paud, Pune District
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved the establishment of a Civil Court (Junior Division) and a Judicial Magistrate First Class Court in Paud (Taluka Mulshi), Pune district, replacing the existing link court. The decision also includes the sanctioning of 12 regular posts and 4 outsourced positions, along with necessary financial provisions.
Currently, a link court operates in Paud. Based on the pending cases in its jurisdiction and the availability of infrastructure, the High Court’s Court Establishment Committee recommended upgrading the link court to a full-fledged Civil Court (Junior Division) and Judicial Magistrate First Class Court. This move is expected to expedite case resolution and provide better judicial access for local citizens. The Cabinet also approved a budget allocation of ₹1,64,09,852 for salaries and other expenses.
➡️ Finance Department
Permission for Public Enterprises & Corporations to Open Accounts in Thane Janata Sahakari Bank
The Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, granted permission to open accounts in Thane Janata Sahakari Bank for salary payments of government employees and investment of surplus funds from public enterprises and corporations.
Since the bank meets financial viability and regulatory compliance requirements set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Cooperative, Textile, and Marketing Department recommended authorizing the bank for government transactions. Additionally, pensioners will also be allowed to open personal accounts in this bank. The Cabinet approved an annual review of cooperative banks’ eligibility in July-August, considering changes in audit reports.
➡️ Relief & Rehabilitation Department
₹599.75 Crore Action Plan for Civic Amenities in 332 Rehabilitated Villages
The Cabinet approved an action plan to provide pending civic amenities in 332 villages rehabilitated before 1976 due to irrigation projects. A budget of ₹599.75 crore was sanctioned for these works.
Rehabilitation efforts include land compensation, allocation of plots in new settlements, provision of civic amenities, and alternative land allotment in command areas. Since funds for rehabilitation were previously allocated through project agencies, and irrigation development corporations were formed in 1998, older projects lacked financial support. To address this, the government decided to allocate funds for civic amenities through the Revenue & Forest Department’s Rehabilitation Division.
An initial approval of ₹424.60 crore was granted for completing these amenities, while ₹175.14 crore of past dues will also be covered. These funds will be allocated in the upcoming budget session. Upon completion, maintenance responsibilities will be transferred to the Rural Development Department.
➡️ Planning Department
Maharashtra State Data Policy & Establishment of State Data Authority
The Cabinet approved the Maharashtra State Data Policy and its draft framework to enhance transparency and efficient use of information across government departments. The Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) will oversee the implementation, with a dedicated State Data Authority being set up.
With large-scale digitization, government departments accumulate vast amounts of data. The policy focuses on optimal utilization of this data for better governance, research, and economic growth. It aims to ensure accurate statistical records, reduce redundant data collection, and streamline direct benefit transfers (DBT) through digital integration.
The MahaStride project, supported by the World Bank, will facilitate the implementation of this data policy.
➡️ Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Department
Approval for Veterinary Colleges in Parli and Baramati
The Cabinet approved the establishment of new veterinary colleges under Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur, at Parli (Beed district) and Baramati (Pune district). A budget of ₹671.77 crore was sanctioned for construction, salaries, and associated expenses for each college.
Parli will receive 75 acres of land, while the Baramati college will be built on 82 acres in Karhavagaj. Both institutions will have an intake capacity of 80 students each.
A total of 276 positions have been approved per college, including 96 teaching staff, 138 non-teaching staff, and 42 outsourced staff. Additionally, ₹107.19 crore has been allocated for salaries and operational costs over the next five years. Funds were also sanctioned for infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, and other essential facilities.
