2,795 Livestock Development Officer Posts to be Filled – Minister Pankaja Munde

Mumbai : In a significant move to boost the efficiency of the Animal Husbandry Department, Maharashtra’s Minister for Animal Husbandry and Environment, Pankaja Munde, has taken decisive steps to fill vacant posts in the department. She announced that a formal request has been submitted to the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) to initiate the recruitment of 2,795 Livestock Development Officer (LDO) positions under Group A of the Maharashtra Animal Husbandry Services.

The Livestock Development Officer post is crucial for strengthening the department’s outreach, especially in rural areas, ensuring full-capacity functioning of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Commissionerates and their regional offices. As per the revised organizational structure, there are 4,684 approved LDO posts in Group A, of which only 1,886 are currently filled, leaving 2,798 positions vacant. Additionally, 8 more posts are set to become vacant by December 31, 2025, due to retirements, bringing the total number of vacancies to 2,806.

Recognizing the impact of this staffing shortage on departmental operations, Minister Munde actively pursued the matter and decided to fill the vacant LDO posts. Of these, 11 posts from the waiting list of Advertisement No. 12/2022 are already in the process of being allocated. A petition has now been submitted to the MPSC for the recruitment of the remaining 2,795 posts.

Instructions have been issued to expedite the recruitment process urgently. Minister Munde expressed confidence that once these positions are filled, the department’s functioning will accelerate, significantly enhancing service quality for livestock owners and farmers in rural areas.
