For Quality School Education, All Student-Related Activities Must Be Completed According to the Prescribed Calendar: School Education Minister Shri Singh

School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh said that to ensure the quality of school education in the state, all student-related activities must be completed according to the prescribed academic calendar. He praised the introduction of the online system for teachers’ attendance and directed that it should be implemented immediately as a pilot project in Ujjain and Narsinghpur districts. Minister Shri Singh was addressing a meeting of departmental officers at Directorate of Public Instruction on Thursday. Secretary of School Education Shri Sanjay Goyal, Commissioner of Public Instruction Smt. Shilpa Gupta, Director of the State Education Center Shri Harjinder Singh, and Managing Director of the Textbook Corporation Shri Vinay Nigam were also present at the meeting.

School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh directed officials to adopt a sensitive approach while resolving pending cases of compassionate appointments within the department. He emphasized the need to take special initiatives to secure the funds allocated to the state under central government schemes related to school education. Minister Shri Singh further instructed that the department must establish a system to ensure timely payment of dues to teachers and employees after their retirement. Additionally, he stressed the importance of prompt action, directing that immediate responses should be sent to letters received from public representatives.

Progress of Scheme Implementation

In the meeting, it was informed that for the academic session 2025–26, textbooks are to be distributed to 82 lakh students, out of which 60 percent of the distribution work has already been completed by the department. Arrangements are also being made to provide uniforms to approximately 60 lakh students from classes 1 to 8 through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.Additionally, it was shared that the distribution process for free bicycles, scholarships, laptops, and scooters will be completed within the prescribed timeframe. The meeting also discussed the upgradation of secondary schools to high schools and high schools to higher secondary schools, with the process scheduled to be completed by June 15 this year.

Secretary of School Education Dr. Sanjay Goyal informed that during the summer, schools in a dilapidated condition will be identified, and priority will be given to finding alternative locations, constructing additional rooms, and carrying out necessary repair work. A provision of Rs 149 crore has been allocated for repairs and Rs 100 crore for the construction of additional classrooms.The meeting also provided updates on smart classes and ICT labs. It was reported that tablets have been distributed to 45,500 higher secondary teachers and 1 Lakh 62 Thousand primary teachers, while action is underway to provide tablets to 75,000 secondary teachers. Furthermore, robotics labs are being established in 52 CM Rise schools under the Star Project, and Atal Tinkering Labs are being set up in 458 PM Shri schools. Arrangements for furniture in schools were also discussed during the meeting.
