Film City to generate employment for over 50,000 people, indirectly benefit 5-7 lakh people

Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s dream project, the International Film City, will commence construction within 6 months, and within three years, shooting and related activities for films will begin here. Not only that, the construction of the Film City will provide employment opportunities to 50,000 people from the state and neighbouring states, while indirectly benefiting 5 to 7 lakh people with job opportunities.

Furthermore, the project aims to fulfill the aspirations of Uttar Pradesh residents seeking opportunities in the film industry, providing a viable alternative to established hubs like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The establishment of a Film Institute within the complex underscores the state’s commitment to nurturing talent and realizing the dreams of youth aspiring to pursue careers in filmmaking.

“Film-related activities will start within 3 years”

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) CEO Arun Vir Singh said that alongside Jewar Airport, the construction of an International Film City in the YEIDA region was Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, is now set to become a reality. Construction of the Film City is scheduled to begin within the next 4 to 6 months, with film-related activities expected to commence within three years.

He added that the Film City promises opportunities for local talents, providing a platform for those aspiring to work in films without having to travel to major cities like Mumbai. This initiative will benefit numerous individuals with talents such as actors, technicians, mixers, cameramen, and storytellers, who, despite possessing exceptional skills, face challenges accessing platforms within the state itself.

Arun Vir Singh mentioned that this film city will be completely different. Whatever shortcomings exist in the film cities across the country will be addressed here. A significant advantage is the reduced travel time due to its proximity to Jewar Airport, offering a level of convenience not found in cities like Mumbai or Hyderabad, where travel can be time-consuming. Additionally, accommodation arrangements will also be available here. Outdoor shooting locations will also be set up here. Film institutes will be established where youth can train and pursue their careers in the film industry.

He also mentioned that the film city will feature a comprehensive ecosystem, including replicas of destinations like Himachal, Kullu Manali, and Kashmir, along with roads, airports, and helipads. There will be temples, mosques, and churches for shooting. Accommodation will be provided in villas, and backlots will be available for shooting. Film institutes will offer educational programs where children can study and learn acting. Advanced technologies like sound mixing and VFX will also be integrated into the film city’s infrastructure.

“World-class infrastructure similar to Mumbai’s film city”

Comparing it with Mumbai’s Film City, he emphasized that the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development boasts world-class infrastructure. It features Rapid Rail, Metro, Indian Railways, and Transit Rail connectivity. Additionally, the area offers facilities like hotels and villas, eliminating travel time and accommodation issues. The film city will include mixing studios, OTT platforms, and other production studios.

Discussing the economic impact, he stated that the Film City will have a multiplier effect on the entire state’s economy. Once fully operational, it is expected to directly employ around 50,000 people and indirectly provide employment opportunities for 5 to 7 lakh individuals. It will also include unskilled people because it is a labour-intensive industry. The benefits will extend from Ballia to Bijnor and to neighboring states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana. Similar to the impact of Jewar Airport, the Film City is anticipated to boost the state’s GDP by 1.5 to 2 percent.

“Film City will be a secure destination”

Singh further said that under CM Yogi’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh’s Law and Order has significantly improved, making the International Film City a secure destination. Visitors can freely travel throughout the YEIDA area day and night, reflecting the area’s secure environment, which continues to see ongoing enhancements.

Noida has implemented advanced measures like technology-driven investigations, integrated surveillance systems, and efficient traffic management systems to combat cybercrime, ensuring a safe environment.

He also highlighted that the International Film City will serve as a truly global hub, accommodating the shooting of both Indian and foreign films. The facilities that will be provided here will be available at less than half the cost compared to foreign countries, making it a highly cost-effective choice for filmmakers from around the world.
