Women Advancing Toward Economic Empowerment through Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission.

Raipur : In alignment with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s vision, the state government is actively working toward the economic empowerment of women in Chhattisgarh, aiming to help them become self-reliant. Under the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission – Bihan, significant efforts are being made in this direction. One inspiring example is Suratmanee, a member of the Maa Kudargarhi Self-Help Group from Indarpur village panchayat, under the Odgi Janpad Panchayat. Her dedication and achievements are now motivating other women in the region.

The Maa Kudargarhi Self-Help Group was formed on 25 October 2013. In the year 2015-16, the group received ₹15,000 as a revolving fund. From this fund, Suratmanee took ₹5,000 to meet her domestic needs. Later, through a bank linkage, the group secured a loan of ₹50,000 to initiate a business venture.

Suratmanee shared that with the help of this loan, she established a centering plate unit, which provides rental services of centering plates used in construction. This venture now earns her an annual income of around ₹80,000 to ₹90,000. By supplying construction materials to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in her village, she has significantly improved her family’s financial condition.

Joining the Bihan scheme has not only led Suratmanee toward self-reliance but has also turned her into a source of inspiration for other women. She proudly says that her family is now financially strong, and she expressed her gratitude to the Bihan scheme and the district administration for their support.

Through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), women are not only strengthening their families economically but also playing a vital role in the development of their villages and society.
