Adequate Availability of Fertilizers and Seeds, Distribution in Full Swing
Collector Inspects Storage and Distribution Systems in the District
Raipur : Agricultural activities are in full swing in the district for the Kharif season 2025. In the Khairagarh–Chhuikhadan–Gandai district, sowing of Kharif crops is nearly complete, and transplantation of paddy has now begun. In this crucial phase, the district administration is making special efforts to ensure the timely availability of fertilizers and seeds for farmers.
Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and under the guidance of Collector Shri Indrajit Singh Chandrawal, the supply, storage, and distribution systems for fertilizers and seeds are being reviewed regularly. The Collector has instructed officials to ensure that registered farmers receive timely access to fertilizers and seeds through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, so that there are no obstacles in agricultural operations.
Currently, DAP fertilizer is in high demand across the district. However, considering its limited supply, the administration is promoting Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and NPK fertilizers as effective alternatives. To popularize these substitutes, the Agriculture Department has launched an awareness campaign using banners and posters at cooperative societies.
So far, 22,281 metric tonnes of various types of fertilizers have been supplied to cooperative societies across the district, of which 18,125 metric tonnes have already been distributed to farmers. At present, 2,134 metric tonnes of SSP and 564 metric tonnes of NPK fertilizers are available in cooperative societies and double-lock storage facilities.
The district has also made significant progress in seed distribution. Against a target of 6,090 quintals for Kharif 2025, a total of 6,201 quintals of seeds have been stored and distributed through cooperative societies to the farmers.
Collector Shri Chandrawal has urged farmers to promptly collect the available stock of fertilizers and seeds from their respective societies. He encouraged the use of SSP and NPK fertilizers as alternatives to DAP for achieving better crop yield and promoting sustainable agriculture.
