Row Erupts Over Haryana’s Land Pooling Policy, Aam Aadmi Party Levels Major Allegations
Chandigarh, Aug 2025 : The BJP government in Haryana is not only snatching away farmers’ land, but is also bent on swallowing their identity, livelihood, and the rights of future generations, alleged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). According to AAP, the so-called schemes being run through the E-Bhoomi portal are nothing but paper exercises that have turned into an open loot for brokers and the builder lobby, backed by the entire administrative machinery of Chief Minister Nayab Singh and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
AAP alleged that the BJP government has conspired to purchase farmers’ land at prices even lower than the official circle rates, proving that the government neither cares about farmers, nor their fields, nor Haryana’s agricultural heritage. Instead, the administration is rewarding brokers and pushing farmers towards ruin. “This is not a government anymore—it has turned into a land-grabbing factory,” the party charged.
The policy, it said, excludes nearly 90% of farmers who own less than 10 acres of land, leaving them at the mercy of middlemen. Farmers are being forced to part with their land at circle rates, while the actual market rate is three to four times higher. The compensation being offered is neither fair nor transparent. “In the name of compensation, the government is serving lies and cheating the rightful owners of land,” AAP alleged.
The party further claimed that in areas where the E-Bhoomi portal has been implemented, BJP ministers and senior leaders have already purchased hundreds of acres of land in advance. “Is this just a coincidence, or a clear misuse of power?” AAP questioned. Once farmers are compelled to sell their land, it is these leaders who will benefit the most, having already bought land before the policy came into effect. “This is not merely a policy—it is a business model that stands on the corpses of farmers, with the entire power structure complicit,” AAP said.
AAP also targeted Chief Minister Nayab Singh, accusing him of being in a hurry to convert the entire state into a corporate project. “He neither cares about saving villages nor has time to listen to the cries of farmers. If farmers are silent, it is because of helplessness—but this BJP loot will not last long,” the party warned. The statement recalled that this is the same BJP government that did not hesitate to let farmers die on Delhi’s streets during the three black farm laws, and is now out to rob Haryana’s soil of its rightful owners.
The party also questioned senior BJP leader and minister Anil Vij, saying, “The same leader who once opposed building IMTs on fertile land is now sitting silently. Why is his conscience not urging him to stand against this injustice?”
AAP further slammed the Congress, calling its role “equally shameful.” It said that the opposition in Haryana is virtually invisible, with no Leader of Opposition appointed for over a year. “This has given the BJP a free hand to loot farmers while the Congress sits back and watches with its eyes closed,” the party alleged.
AAP concluded by calling on Haryana’s farmers to decide where they stand—on the side of those conspiring to loot them, or with the forces raising their voice in protest. National Media In-Charge Anurag Dhanda stressed that these are not merely political questions, but matters of life and death for every farm worker and cultivator.
“The BJP government must answer: How much land has been taken from farmers since 2014? How much land has been handed over to corporates? How many BJP leaders bought land in those very areas before the scheme was implemented? They must answer, because this land is not just a piece of earth—it is the soul of Haryana’s farmers. And this soul cannot be handed over to brokers by any government, any chief minister, or any system of power,” AAP declared.
