From Darkness to Light: A New Dawn of Education in Lampahad
Raipur, Aug 2025 :Lampahad, a dependent village of Bargawan Gram Panchayat in Korba district, home to the Pahadi Korwa tribe (a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group), is now glowing with the light of education after years of neglect. Once plagued by the absence of teachers, which cast a shadow over the future of its children, the village is now witnessing a transformation.
As per the directives of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the government’s rationalization initiative has ensured the appointment of regular teachers here, restoring systematic teaching and learning in schools.
Earlier, children’s studies were frequently disrupted due to the lack of permanent teachers, especially after the promotion and transfer of the only posted teacher. Today, with two teachers in the primary school and one in the middle school, this long-standing problem has been resolved, giving new hope to the community.
Currently, the primary school has 33 students and the middle school has 19 students, the majority belonging to the Pahadi Korwa community. Teachers like Kaleshwar Ram Katela (Primary School) and Deepak Yadav (Middle School) are now conducting classes regularly. Students shared that they not only receive timely lessons but also benefit from the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, which provides both breakfast and lunch.
Young girls Sukhshila, Phoolmati, Sangita, Devshila, and Phulmania expressed happiness that they now have consistent opportunities to study. Their parents too are relieved and pleased with the proximity of the school and the regular presence of teachers.
This new dawn of education in Lampahad is not only paving the way for a brighter future for Pahadi Korwa children but is also proving to be a milestone in linking this remote tribal area to the mainstream of development.
