EVs, Best Alternative to Depleting Conventional Energy

Bhopal, Sept 2025 : Amid growing concerns about climate change, rising pollution and depleting conventional energy sources, electric vehicles (EVs) are emerging as one of the most effective solutions. Both central and state governments are offering various subsidies to promote EV adoption among the public, while numerous automotive companies continue to conduct research to improve EV technology. With collective efforts, EVs can become a reliable option for the general populace. These views were expressed by Additional Chief Secretary (New and Renewable Energy) Manu Srivastava during the EV Workshop, Vidyut-25 at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) on Tuesday.

ACS Srivastava said that the current tender rates for coal-based power are ₹6 per unit, while solar power costs ₹2.15 per unit, underscoring the need for a rapid transition to renewable energy. He said that solar energy has the unique advantage of being storable for use when needed.

During the program, Additional Commissioner Parikshit Jhade provided details about Madhya Pradesh’s new EV policy, which has been rolled out for the next five years and offers various subsidies to attract consumers.
