Manu Bhaker Wins Olympic Medal; Nation Rejoices as PM Modi Calls it a Historic Achievement

India has added medal to its tally at the Paris Olympics. Indian marksman Manu Bhaker made history by winning a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event. She is the first Indian shooter to secure a medal at the Olympics, scoring a total of 221.7 points in the final. This marks India’s first medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics and the fifth Olympic shooting medal in the country’s history. Korean athletes Oh Ye Jin won gold (243.2 points) and Kim Yeji took silver (241.3 points). As Manu Bhaker aimed for the medal, the nation erupted with joy, with congratulations pouring in from all corners, including President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi

PM Modi also congratulated Manu Bhaker, calling her victory historic and an incredible achievement. He posted on X, “Very good, to win India’s first medal in ParisOlympics2024! Congratulations on the bronze medal. This success is even more special because she became the first woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement!”

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini expressed his pride, saying, “Finally, the dream that the whole country expected from Haryana’s brave daughter has come true. Manu Bhaker has showcased her strength in Paris, winning a bronze medal in the 10m women’s air pistol event at the Paris Olympics. At 22 years old, Manu Bhaker has made the whole country and Haryana region proud today. Every Haryanvi’s chest is swelling with pride. Congratulations to the strong and courageous daughter of Haryana.”
