India’s Arjun Babuta Narrowly Misses Medal at Paris Olympics 2024
India’s star shooter Arjun Babuta narrowly missed securing a second medal for the country at the Paris Olympics 2024. After the first 11 shots, Arjun was in a strong position to win the silver medal. However, a series of misfires saw him eliminated in fourth place.
Earlier on Sunday, Manu Bhakar won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol shooting event, marking India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics. On Monday, despite Arjun Babuta’s impressive performance in the men’s 10m air rifle event, he missed out on a medal but won the hearts of fans.
In the finals of the 10m air rifle event, 8 shooters competed. China’s Lihao Sheng claimed gold with an Olympic record score of 252.2 points. Sweden’s Victor Lindgren secured silver with 251.4 points, and Croatia’s Marisic Miran took bronze with 230 points.
Babuta was a strong contender for the silver medal after the first 11 shots but misfired on the 13th (9.9), 15th (10.2), and 18th (10.1) shots, which dashed his hopes for a podium finish. A desperate Babuta ended with a 9.5 on his final shot.
