‘Pod Taxi’ Project Should Be Implemented as a Model – Deputy CM Eknath Shinde
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The Bandra–Kurla Pod Taxi project is the only one of its kind in the country and should be implemented as a model project, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed. He also instructed officials to expedite the work on this project.
A presentation on the Pod Taxi project was made at the Deputy CM’s residence. Present on the occasion were Additional Chief Secretary to the Deputy CM Asim Gupta, Principal Secretary Navin Sona, MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Additional Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal, Inspector General of Police Anil Kumbhare, and other officials.
Describing the project as the next step in transport services, Shinde said the Pod Taxi will be particularly important for the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area, connecting Kurla and Bandra railway stations. With increasing congestion in this busy business hub, the Pod Taxi will provide citizens with relief from traffic jams and serve as a convenient commuting option.
The Pod Taxi route from Bandra to Kurla covers a distance of 8 kilometers with 33 stations. Once operational, the project is expected to reduce the dependence on private vehicles, thereby easing road traffic in the area, Shinde added.
