Supply Minister Reviews Ongoing Gas Pipeline Construction
Aizawl, Nov 2025 : Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova chaired a review meeting to assess the progress report of the ongoing North East Gas Grid (N.E.G.G) gas pipeline being constructed from Tripura to Mizoram.
This gas pipeline will run from Panisagar in Tripura to Sihhmui in Mizoram. Of the total stretch, 15 km will be constructed within Tripura and 104 km within Mizoram. At present, about 28 km of the pipeline has been completed. To ensure faster and smoother completion of the remaining work, the Government of Mizoram has extended all necessary support. Likewise, Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) is also making efforts to expedite the project as much as possible.
During the review of the progress report, the Minister expressed appreciation to IGGL for submitting weekly reports as requested. However, he pointed out that the pace of construction was not as satisfactory as expected and stated that he would follow up with senior authorities to ensure that the work moves ahead with greater speed and efficiency.
Officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department present in the meeting also stressed the need to accelerate and strictly monitor the construction so that the pipeline project can move forward with better coordination.
