CM Stalin Hands Appointment Orders to 233 Recruits; Launches Mobile Medical Units for Cancer Screening in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Nov 2025: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today distributed appointment orders to 233 newly recruited healthcare personnel and launched mobile medical units aimed at strengthening cancer prevention and women’s health services across the state.

Under the Cancer Prevention and Care Programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated a mobile medical van equipped with advanced diagnostic tools including digital mammography, ECG machines, and semi-auto analyzers. Built at a cost of ₹1.10 crore, the van will help provide early screening for major cancers affecting women — breast, cervical, and oral cancers — along with tests for diabetes, hypertension, anemia, and heart diseases.

Initially, the pilot mobile van project will begin in Kanchipuram district, after which 37 additional mobile medical vans — worth ₹40 crore in total — will be deployed across all districts of Tamil Nadu to ensure comprehensive preventive healthcare access for women.

During the function held at the Chief Secretariat, CM Stalin handed over appointment orders to the selected candidates recruited through two major agencies:

  • Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC): 196 Assistants and 18 District Health Statisticians in the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services and Family Welfare.
  • Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB): 19 Skilled Assistant Grade-II (Fitter Grade-II) positions under the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation.

The Chief Minister highlighted that filling these vacancies would further strengthen healthcare delivery and administrative efficiency in the state’s medical sector.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and quality through multiple initiatives — including the construction of new hospitals, upgrading of existing infrastructure, installation of modern medical equipment, and timely filling of vacant posts.

Tamil Nadu has implemented several flagship health initiatives such as:

  • “Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam” (Healthcare at Doorsteps) – delivering primary care directly to people’s homes.
  • “Innuyir Kaapom – Nammai Kaakkum 48” – providing immediate trauma care to reduce accident fatalities.
  • “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” – conducting mobile health camps in remote areas.

Since 2021, the Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) has appointed 7,413 healthcare professionals, including 4,576 assistant medical officers, 48 dental surgeons, 27 physiotherapists, and 2,810 other medical staff. Additionally, 1,640 administrative posts — such as assistants, junior assistants, typists, and stenographers — have been filled through the TNPSC.

CM Stalin noted that Tamil Nadu’s sustained focus on healthcare delivery, infrastructure expansion, and preventive programs has positioned the state as a national leader in public health governance.

The event was attended by Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, IAS, Principal Secretary (Health) P. Senthil Kumar, IAS, and other senior officials including Director of Public Health M. Vijayalakshmi, IAS, and TN Health Systems Project Director E. Arun Thamburaj, IAS.
