International Conference in Delhi Calls on Sindhi Community to Support Vision of Developed India by 2047
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : An international conference on the theme “Empowered Society, Prosperous India” was organised on Sunday at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, by the World Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Association, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as the chief guest. During the event, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker and patron of the Foundation, Vasudev Devnani, urged the global Sindhi community to contribute significantly towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Developed India by 2047, thereby carrying forward the community’s glorious traditions.
Devnani emphasized the need to create a Digital Sindhi Heritage Project to document and preserve Sindhi culture, language, and civilization—one of the world’s most ancient cultures—in the modern digital era.
The conference was attended by representatives from 35 countries, including India.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stressed the importance of documenting the rich history of the Sindhi community. The second session featured Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as the chief guest.
Devnani highlighted that Sindhis contribute 24% of India’s total income tax, reflecting their strong economic presence. He also underlined the fact that Sindhi culture is one of the world’s oldest, and the Sindhi language—rich with 52 letters in its script—is among the most prosperous languages. He said the community should take pride in its heritage, as Sindhis are settled not only across India but in every corner of the world, including distant regions such as Barbados.
Reflecting on the trauma of Partition, Devnani noted that Sindhis left behind their valuable assets to come to India out of love for their motherland, values, and Sanatan Dharma. Through hard work and resilience, they rebuilt their lives in India and transformed themselves from achievers into philanthropists. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for declaring 14 August as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, acknowledging the suffering endured by displaced communities.
Devnani appealed to Sindhis to take pride in their roots and promote the Sindhi language, emphasizing that a community’s identity resides in its language. He also urged parents to imbibe Sindhi culture and values in the younger generation.
Recalling his tenure as Education Minister, Devnani said he had established Sindhu Research Chairs in Ajmer and Kota, and had included in school curricula the biographies of Maharaja Dahir Sen, revolutionary Hemu Kalani, and several revered Sindhi saints such as Sant Teu Ram, Sant Chandra Bhagwan, and Sant Kanwar Ram.
He concluded his speech with the slogan “Jiye Sindh, Jiye Hind.”
During the conference, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani demanded the establishment of a Sindhu Bhavan in New Delhi. Various speakers from the Sindhi community also shared their views. The Foundation’s national president, Dr. Gurumukh Jagwani, expressed gratitude to all participating delegates.
