Prime Minister Narendra Modi Hoists Saffron Flag atop Newly Built Ram Temple, Marking Completion of Construction

Ayodhya, Nov 2025 :Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, November 25, hoisted the saffron flag atop the newly built Ram Temple, formally marking the completion of its grand construction. The historic ceremony drew thousands of devotees who had been gathering in Ayodhya since early morning, filling the temple town with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as the sacred moment approached.

PM Modi arrived in Ayodhya from Delhi and was received personally by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Saket College helipad. From there, the Prime Minister held a grand roadshow on his way to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. Devotees lined both sides of the route, waving saffron flags, the Tricolour, BJP flags, and banners bearing Lord Ram’s emblem. The atmosphere was electric as people showered flowers on the convoy, chanting “Jai Shri Ram” and “Modi-Modi.”

Before the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Prime Minister visited several key shrines within the temple complex. His first stop was the Sheshavatar Temple, followed by the Saptmandir Complex, where he performed puja along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Chief Minister Adityanath. The Saptmandir houses temples dedicated to Maharishi Vashishtha, Maharishi Vishwamitra, Maharishi Agastya, Maharishi Valmiki, Goddess Ahalya, Nishadraj Guha, and Mata Shabari—figures deeply revered for their roles in the Ramayana and in Lord Ram’s spiritual journey.

PM Modi and Bhagwat then offered prayers at the Ram Darbar sanctum sanctorum. Visuals released from inside the complex revealed the first images of the Ram Darbar ahead of the ceremony, drawing emotional reactions from devotees across the country. Sculptor Prashant Pandey, who worked on the Ram Darbar, said, “Our eyes and hearts see everything. I cannot express my joy in words. We are blessed with this fortune.”

At around noon, Prime Minister Modi proceeded to hoist the specially crafted saffron flag on the temple’s main tower, rising to a height of 191 feet. The triangular flag—22 feet long and 11 feet wide—was mounted on a 42-foot pole capable of rotating 360 degrees. Designed by a parachute specialist from Ahmedabad, the 2–3 kilogram flag bears sacred symbols including a shining sun, the Om symbol, and the Mandara tree, representing Lord Rama’s valor and divine legacy.

The ceremony, known as Dhwajarohan, carries deep cultural and spiritual significance. It traditionally symbolizes the consecration and completion of a temple’s structure. With its hoisting, the final step in the construction of the Ram Temple was officially completed.

Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister visited the Annapurani Devi Temple and later the first floor of the main temple, where he offered prayers to Lord Shri Balram and participated in a special puja at the Ram Darbar.

The event marks a milestone in Ayodhya’s transformation into a major spiritual and cultural center. Leaders from across the country hailed the ceremony as not only a moment of religious pride but also a reaffirmation of India’s civilizational heritage. Devotees described the day as historic—one that generations had awaited and one that will be remembered for centuries.
