Chief Minister Meets IGGL Officials Over Mizoram Gas Pipeline Project

Aizawl, December 2025: Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma today met officials of Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL), the agency implementing the Mizoram Gas Pipeline project from Tripura, at his office. The IGGL delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer Pu Subrata Das. During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the work and listened to the issues and challenges being faced during implementation.

IGGL officials informed that the gas pipeline originates from the Panisagar Receiving Terminal in Tripura and enters Mizoram through Kanhmun, passing via Zawlnuam, Kawrthah, Tuidam and Darlak before emerging near Mamit. From there, the pipeline will extend up to Lengte and finally reach Sihhmui, where a Receiving Terminal will be established. From the Sihhmui Receiving Terminal, household gas connections within Aizawl city will be executed by Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Limited.

The pipeline from Panisagar to Sihhmui has a total length of 119.5 kilometres, with the pipeline diameter being approximately one foot. The project is targeted for completion by December 2027. As of now, about 45 per cent of the welding work has been completed, while approximately 33 per cent of the lowering (pipe-laying) work has been carried out.

This project is being implemented under the North East Natural Gas Pipeline Grid. The Panisagar–Sihhmui stretch forms part of Phase II of the project. Phase II of the initiative covers the Guwahati–Agartala–Aizawl pipeline, which has a total length of 723 kilometres.
