Lucknow: December 2025 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a new rail overbridge worth ₹138 crore on the Gorakhpur–Lucknow railway route between Domingarh and Gorakhpur Junction, parallel to the previously constructed ROB at railway crossing 162-A.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Gorakhpur now has another rail overbridge parallel to the Gorakhnath bridge. This will provide Gorakhpur residents a new route to travel to Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur and Nepal. The overbridge, more than 600 metres long, is based on modern technology and has been constructed by Setu Nigam within one year. It includes sound barriers, adequate lighting, and footpaths on both sides for pedestrians.

The Chief Minister said that development happens when thinking is positive. When a double-engine government that values both heritage and development comes to power, progress accelerates. Development becomes a catalyst for change and transforms public perception.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is working towards comprehensive progress, ensuring rail, road and air connectivity and expanding public welfare initiatives. Housing, ration, healthcare, LPG, electricity and many essential services are being provided to the poor. Today, every Indian is contributing to nation-building with the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. No global force can suppress India now; the world hears and follows India’s voice.

The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh is no longer facing an identity crisis. The state has emerged as a hub of development and heritage. Gorakhpur is now free from waterlogging, mafia dominance, mosquitoes and diseases. Eight years ago, Gorakhpur lacked basic infrastructure and people from UP faced disrespect outside the state. Today, this double-engine government has brought unprecedented change with people’s support.

Earlier, traffic congestion was common in Gorakhpur. Now, with 4-lane roads from Bargadwa to Sports College to Mohaddipur, movement is smoother. A new link expressway has improved access to Lucknow. Travel now takes only 2.5–3 hours to Varanasi and 3–3.5 hours to Lucknow. Work continues on the Herbert Barrage road as well.

The Chief Minister said that AIIMS and the fertilizer plant have been revived. BRD Medical College and AIIMS now serve as modern medical centres. Ramgarh Tal has become a major tourism destination. Comprehensive infrastructure—roads, water, electricity, sanitation and connectivity—is being ensured. Encephalitis has been eliminated.

He added that development is advancing across the state—Ayodhya today reflects its ancient grandeur, Varanasi is drawing global attention as a spiritual capital, and Prayagraj attracts millions with world-class facilities.

He said Uttar Pradesh’s resources are being used for Uttar Pradesh’s development: roads, bridges, medical colleges, engineering colleges and welfare schemes. Elderly pensions, women’s pensions, free gas refills during festivals, support for girls’ education and marriage—these initiatives show strong commitment to inclusive welfare. Uttar Pradesh is now a revenue-surplus state with no shortage of funds for development.

The Chief Minister said arrangements have been made to protect people from the cold. Bonfires are being lit at public places, blankets distributed, and shelter homes arranged so no one sleeps on footpaths. He urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during severe cold and to seek medical advice when needed.

MP Ravi Kishan Shukla and Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava also addressed the event. Public representatives and senior government officials were present.
