Raipur, January 2026 : A significant step has been taken to accelerate tourism facilities and residential development in Mainpat, popularly known as the “Shimla of Chhattisgarh.” The state government has allotted 4.80 hectares (12 acres) of land in Mainpat to the Chhattisgarh Housing Board under the Atal Vihar Scheme.
Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, Shri Anurag Singh Deo, said that construction of a modern, multi-purpose tourism–residential complex on this land will begin soon. Designed in harmony with the natural surroundings, the project will provide better, safe, and affordable accommodation facilities for tourists visiting Mainpat.
Shri Singh Deo said that the decision was made under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, with active efforts by Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary and Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal. He noted that the need for such facilities had long been felt in view of the steadily increasing tourist inflow to Mainpat.
The proposed complex will feature modern wellness and recreational facilities. According to Shri Singh Deo, the project will include a Kerala-model wellness centre, natural Panchakarma therapy, herbal spa, and AYUSH services. Additionally, a 24×7 clubhouse, millets café, gym, swimming pool, kids’ play area, steam bath, and entertainment zone will be developed. As part of eco-friendly development, tree houses, cottages, and a cultural zone showcasing local life and traditions will also be included.
He said the project will boost tourism activities in Mainpat, create local employment opportunities, and open new avenues in the hospitality sector. The availability of quality residential facilities will encourage longer tourist stays, strengthening the regional economy.
Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary said that Mainpat is a unique and emerging tourist destination in Chhattisgarh. Given the rapidly increasing number of tourists, the development of modern facilities is essential. This initiative of the Housing Board will give new direction to tourism, housing, and the local economy, firmly placing Mainpat on the national tourism map.
Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal described the project as a milestone in the expansion of tourism in Chhattisgarh. He said that the development of modern tourism infrastructure will enhance visitor experience and strengthen the state’s hospitality sector.
Sitapur MLA Shri Ramkumar Toppo termed the project crucial for the overall development of Mainpat, stating that it will create employment and business opportunities for local youth and elevate the region’s identity.
Chairman Shri Anurag Singh Deo said that this initiative will strengthen the historic role of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board in tourism–residential development and will serve as a foundation for establishing Mainpat as a major national tourist destination in the future.
