The 7th-8th century Siddheshwar Shiva temple is a confluence of ancient culture and tourism

The state government is constantly making efforts to preserve and enhance the rich cultural and historical heritage of Chhattisgarh with the aim of promoting tourism. In this series, a plan is being made to develop the Siddheshwar Shiva temple located in the Municipal Panchayat Palari of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district as a major tourist destination. This ancient temple located at the District Panchayat headquarters Palari is located near the district’s largest Balsamund reservoir. It was built in the 7th-8th century AD.

A unique amalgamation of history and architecture

The temple is built with red bricks and faces west. The river goddesses Ganga and Yamuna are carved in Tribhanga Mudra on its door, while the lintel has an excellent sculpture of the marriage of the three gods and Shiva. Siddheshwar Shivalinga is installed in the sanctum sanctorum. The peak is decorated with decorated figures of Kirtimukha, Gajamukha and Tiger. As per the desire of the state government, the district administration is developing this temple as a tourist destination to promote tourism.

Boating operation by Bihaan Group

Boating services are being operated by the women of Bihan group in the Balsamund reservoir located near Siddheshwar Shiva temple. This initiative is not only helping in making the local women self-reliant but is also promoting regional tourism. Operating boating provides tourists an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty and also promotes the sources of income of the local people. This effort is an excellent example of rural tourism and women empowerment.

Boating is conducted seven days a week by the sisters of Prayas Cluster Organization. These sisters have earned an income of 8 to 10 lakh rupees from this boating in a year. Tourists visiting here enjoy boating through motor boat, paddle boat, baby boat, water roller, kawas and trampoline in Balsamund Boating. Mrs. Anita Goyal, President of Prayas Cluster Organization, says that the government has given the responsibility of operating this Balsamund Boating to the women of her group, for which I thank the government. Through this, we women are earning our livelihood by joining the Bihan group and are becoming economically empowered and prosperous. This has proved to be very helpful for us women, for this I thank the Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai ji very much.
