Yogi govt to fast-track solar power installation in govt buildings across 75 districts

Lucknow : With a strong commitment to making Uttar Pradesh a hub of clean energy, the Yogi government is intensifying efforts to promote solar power. While the process of installing solar systems in government buildings is already underway across all 75 districts, new steps have been launched to accelerate the initiative. Treating Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision as a mission, the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Agency (UPNEDA) will prepare feasibility reports for rooftop solar installations on government buildings statewide.

As per the plan, a detailed list will be prepared of government buildings already equipped with solar grid systems of 25 kW and above. Alongside, buildings identified for future installations—or where progress was stalled—will also be documented. UPNEDA has initiated this process by forming dedicated teams to carry out the task.

In line with CM Yogi’s vision, UPNEDA will prepare a comprehensive blueprint covering government buildings across all districts. A dedicated team will create a database of buildings already equipped with grid-connected solar rooftop systems of 25 kW and above, while also identifying those suitable for future installations. The team will conduct site surveys and prepare detailed feasibility reports in accordance with UPERC RSPV Regulations 2019 and its amendments. This effort will span district headquarters, cities, tehsils, blocks, and villages.

As part of the process, a detailed action plan will be developed for installing grid-connected solar rooftop systems in the identified government buildings. This will include the preparation of a Comprehensive Process Framework and a Business Requirement Document (BRD). To execute the installations, UPNEDA may collaborate with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). In the final phase, a digital solar map will be created, featuring district-wise data of government buildings with rooftop solar systems. This will eventually be integrated into a unified state-level digital solar map.
