“Students, Read Books and Empower Yourselves” – Advice from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Baramati, April 13: “Students, books are your true friends. They teach you how to think, spark your imagination, and connect you with the world. They not only enhance practical knowledge but also open doors to new opportunities. So, read as many books as possible and use them to empower yourselves,” advised Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of the district, Ajit Pawar.

He was speaking at a spectacle and book distribution program organized for students by the Health Department and Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust, held in the Panchayat Samiti Hall. Present on the occasion were Group Development Officer Anil Bagal, Taluka Health Officer Dr. Manoj Khomne, former Zilla Parishad President Vishwas Devkate, Ratnanidhi Trust Director Rajiv Mehta, and Dr. Santosh Bhosale, among others.

Ajit Pawar stated that the combination of parental support, a student’s willpower, and the crucial guidance of teachers helps one reach the pinnacle of success. He stressed the importance of believing in and encouraging students, while students themselves must work hard and stay dedicated to their goals. He also urged teachers to stay updated with changing times and impart modern knowledge to shape a brighter future for the youth—thus contributing to India’s rise as a global power.

Efforts to Benefit the Underprivileged

Efforts are being made to ensure that underprivileged individuals do not miss out on benefits due to financial constraints, with the support of various social organizations. In Baramati Taluka, 30,000 students underwent eye check-ups through the Health Department, and 1,512 of them were found to have vision defects. High-quality spectacles were distributed to them by Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust.

To cultivate reading habits among students, 50,000 books will be distributed to Zilla Parishad and government-aided schools. Students with vision problems often face challenges in learning, and these spectacles will help them study more comfortably. Ajit Pawar encouraged students to see spectacles and books not just as tools, but as the first steps toward success—tools they should use to turn their dreams into reality.

He also mentioned that a state-of-the-art library worth ₹23.5 crore is being built in Baramati under the Yashwantrao Chavan Open University, Nashik, which will benefit students and citizens from Baramati, Indapur, Purandar, Daund, and Phaltan talukas. He urged Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust to donate books for the new library.

Mr. Mehta shared his thoughts during the event, while Dr. Khomne gave the introductory address.
