Tractor Seized for Illegal Coal Transportation

Authorities have intensified their crackdown on illegal coal transportation and storage in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district. Acting on the instructions of the Collector and under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, a joint team of the Mineral Department and local police is conducting continuous operations.

Mineral Officer Dayanand Tigga reported that during an inspection in the Podi-Chirmiri area, a Mahindra 275 DI red tractor was stopped in Chitajhor village. At first glance, the trolley appeared to be filled with sand, but upon closer inspection, coal was found concealed beneath the sand. The tractor driver fled the scene during the inspection. The vehicle was immediately seized and handed over to the Podi police station.

It is noteworthy that the joint team has been consistently taking action against illegal coal trade. In a recent raid, approximately 20 tons of coal were confiscated. Legal action has been initiated against those involved, and the police have registered a formal case in this matter.
