Latur, Aug 2025 : A railway coach factory has been set up in Latur district to increase employment opportunities. Production of Vande Bharat train coaches will soon begin at this factory, creating around 10,000 jobs. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed that local youth should be given priority for these jobs. He was speaking at a review meeting of district development works held at the Government Guest House.

Guardian Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Jaykumar Gore, MLAs Vikram Kale, Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar, Sanjay Bansode, Abhimanyu Pawar, Ramesh Karad, former MLAs Shivaji Patil Kavhekar and Govind Kendre, Special Inspector General of Police Shahaji Umap, District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge, Zilla Parishad CEO Rahul Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe, and Latur Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Mansi were present. Under the Maharashtra Suvarna Jayanti Nagaroththan Mahabhiyan, the meeting reviewed projects such as the Latur city augmented water supply scheme and the district hospital.

The Chief Minister said that to ensure skilled manpower is available locally for the railway coach factory, necessary trades should be introduced in the district’s ITIs and polytechnic institutes, and training should be provided to the youth. The state government will extend full cooperation for this. He also stated that the issue of transferring railway land to the Vilasrao Deshmukh Government Medical College will be resolved in coordination with the railway administration through a meeting.

Efforts will be made to restart the government milk powder plant at Udgir. A proposal to reactivate the project with the cooperation of Mother Dairy should be submitted, and a positive decision will be taken in this regard, the CM said. To increase the district’s irrigation capacity, repairs to old irrigation projects should be completed promptly. A feasibility study should be conducted and a proposal submitted for distributing irrigation water through pipelines from the Gharni, Tiru, and Devarjan projects. He also instructed that repair work on the Hadgaon and Masalga irrigation projects be completed immediately. In some places, electric poles have been installed on rural access roads; these poles should be removed urgently to clear road obstructions.

Along with Guardian Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale, the district’s public representatives provided details of necessary development works for the district. District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge presented information on ongoing and proposed development projects.
