Saroj Becomes Self-Reliant Through Mahatari Vandan Yojana

This Year’s Teej Festival Becomes Special With Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s initiative, rural women’s lives are changing; Direct deposit into bank accounts is boosting confidence

Raipur, Aug 2025 : Under Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai’s government, the Mahatari Vandan Yojana is providing women with monthly financial assistance directly into their bank accounts. As a result, women are now becoming self-reliant. For Mrs. Saroj Sahu of Chimra village in Kabirdham district, this year’s Teej festival has become especially meaningful.

Until recently, Saroj had to ask her husband even for small household expenses. Whether it was traveling to nearby places or meeting her children’s educational needs, she always had to wait for money. But ever since the launch of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, her life has changed. Now, the funds are deposited directly into her account, enabling her to fulfill her needs independently and without hesitation.

This Teej, Saroj is celebrating with joy. Earlier, the festival was limited to household traditions, but with the help of the scheme’s funds, this year she purchased personal adornments for herself, sweets for her maternal family, and food items for her children. Saroj happily shares, “Now I can not only visit my maternal home but also carry special gifts for my family. This is the biggest gift of Teej for me.” The glow of happiness and confidence on her face is clear proof that she is now economically empowered. For her, Teej is no longer just a religious or traditional festival, but also a celebration of economic independence and women’s empowerment.

This story is not limited to Saroj alone. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana has given thousands of rural women across the district and state a sense of self-reliance during traditional festivals like Teej. Women are now sharing the burden of family finances and experiencing the pride of being able to contribute to their loved ones with their own money.

Thanks to the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, Teej has transformed into a festival of women’s dignity and self-reliance.
