Atal Excellent Education Scheme Opens Path to Quality Education for Children of Construction Workers – CM Vishnu Deo Sai
CM Announces Expansion: 200 Children to Benefit from Next Academic Session
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai today launched the “Atal Excellent Education Scheme” at the Chief Minister’s residence office in the capital, Raipur. The scheme, run by the Labour Department for the children of workers, was formally inaugurated with the CM felicitating the selected students and extending his best wishes.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the scheme has paved the way for better education for the children of construction workers. He made an important announcement that from the next academic session, 200 children will benefit under this initiative.
Mr. Sai remarked that workers toil for the welfare of society but are often left with little time, resources, or energy for their families. Yet they too dream that their children should study well and live a better life — that a worker’s son or daughter should not remain confined to labor, but rise to become IAS, IPS officers, doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, lawyers, and political leaders. Keeping this aspiration in mind, and as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee, the state government has launched this scheme to provide quality education to workers’ children in Chhattisgarh.
Under the scheme, children of workers will receive free education from Class 6 to Class 12 in premier residential schools. All expenses will be borne by the Labour Department.
During the program, construction workers and their children expressed their happiness, stating that the government’s initiative has secured their children’s future. They said this scheme offers their children a golden opportunity for quality education and a brighter tomorrow — something they had long dreamed of, now finally fulfilled.
The Chief Minister further explained that this year, 100 children of construction workers have been admitted to 14 private residential schools, where they will study under CBSE and ICSE curricula, entirely free of cost.
Addressing the event, Labour Minister Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan said that today, with the support of the Labour Department, 100 children from workers’ families have been admitted to 14 private residential schools in the state. He emphasized that the government’s vision is to ensure that the child of a worker should not remain a worker but instead rise to become an officer and serve the nation. He also highlighted that the Labour Department is running a free coaching scheme for workers’ children, which will bring far-reaching results.
Mr. Dewangan further informed that the Labour Department operates three divisions managing more than 70 schemes. In the past 20 months, the state government has transferred benefits worth about ₹600 crore directly to workers’ accounts (DBT). He congratulated the selected students and wished them a bright future.
On this occasion, Dr. Rampratap Singh, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai, the state is moving forward in the direction of good governance, carrying forward the vision of the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He noted that Chhattisgarh has over 3 million registered workers, most of whose children were unable to study in good schools. For them, the Atal Excellent Education Scheme is nothing less than a blessing, providing access to quality institutions. He extended best wishes to the selected children and their parents.
The event also featured a welcome address by Labour Secretary Mr. Him Shikhar Gupta. Among those present were Joint Secretary Mrs. Fariha Alam, Board Secretary Mr. Girish Ramteke, a large number of school children, and their parents.
