Maharashtra Will Lead in Supplying Skilled Manpower to Global Industries – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Stronger mechanism to be created for effective implementation of short-term training programs
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that training courses should be designed keeping in mind the demand for skilled manpower in global industries. Along with government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), a robust mechanism should also be developed for private ITIs. He further stressed that short-term training courses conducted through ITIs must be implemented more effectively. Additionally, all Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the administration should be reviewed through the CM Dashboard.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a review meeting of the Department of Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation at Sahyadri Guest House. The meeting was attended by Skill Development Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma, Vice-Chancellor of Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashwini Bhide, Secretary Srikar Pardeshi, Commissioner Lahuraj Mali, Director of the Directorate of Vocational and Educational Training Madhavi Sardesmukh, and other senior officials of the department.
Fadnavis emphasized that as the demand for skilled manpower is increasing globally, the department must launch courses that match evolving requirements. He also instructed that a capable mechanism should be established to ensure the proper execution of MoUs signed to promote employment growth. Information regarding every trainee—from admission to course completion—should be tracked digitally. He further directed that government ITIs should be upgraded to world-class skill centers with necessary reforms and suggested that guidance should also be taken from the ‘Mitra’ organization.
“We Will Produce More Entrepreneurs”: Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha
Skill Development Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha provided details about the schemes and initiatives undertaken by the department. He announced that new courses would be launched in ITIs for solar technicians, electric vehicle mechanics, additive manufacturing (3D printing), drone technicians, industrial robotics, and AI programming assistants. In addition, region-specific training programs will be developed based on the needs of urban, rural, and tribal areas.
Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma presented the department’s structure, schemes, and current status. She also shared details of innovative initiatives and success stories from the department.
During the meeting, the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training signed an MoU with Mahindra & Mahindra Company to provide various training programs. The agreement was signed in the presence of Prafull Pandey, Head of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Dr. Lewis, Head of Mahindra & Mahindra’s Education Division.
