Mahatari Vandan Scheme Brings New Light to Women’s Lives
Raipur, Sept 2025: The Chhattisgarh Government’s ambitious Mahatari Vandan Scheme has brought positive changes in the lives of rural women. Mrs. Sohaga Bai Sahu, a resident of Village Majhgaon in Kabirdham district, has become an example of self-reliance and empowerment.
Until a few years ago, her life was full of struggles, but government schemes have now helped her lead a more prosperous life. Balancing agricultural work and household responsibilities while facing economic challenges, Mrs. Sohaga Bai receives monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 under the Mahatari Vandan Scheme. This support helps her manage minor household expenses without difficulty.
Mrs. Sohaga Bai shares that the scheme has been a blessing, as she no longer needs to depend on others for daily expenses. Additionally, her name has been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, through which she will soon receive a permanent house.
Agriculture remains her main source of livelihood. By cultivating a small piece of land, she meets her family’s needs through the production of grains and vegetables, while also earning some extra income. Her son and daughter-in-law actively assist her in these efforts. Notably, her daughter-in-law is also benefiting from the Mahatari Vandan Scheme, further strengthening the family’s financial stability.

Through the Mahatari Vandan Scheme, women are provided financial support to become self-reliant. She emphasized that success stories like that of Mrs. Sohaga Bai represent the true achievement of the scheme.
Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Sohaga Bai Sahu thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and Women & Child Development Minister Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, saying that thanks to their efforts, rural women are becoming self-reliant and leading dignified lives.
