Rajasthan Takes Major Step to Improve Healthcare Services; 12,000+ Inspections Completed in 3 Days

Jaipur, Nov 2025 : On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, continuous efforts are being made to strengthen and standardize healthcare services across the state. In this direction, under the guidance of Medical & Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, an intensive inspection campaign was conducted across Rajasthan from 5 to 7 November, during which 12,177 inspections were carried out at various medical institutions.

The Health Minister said that through this campaign, a detailed assessment of medical institutions—from villages to hamlets—has been completed. “Our aim is that every institution meets the required standards. Any shortcomings identified during the inspections will be addressed in mission mode,” he added.

Principal Secretary (Health) Gayatri Rathore informed that the campaign was conducted to ensure compliance with Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) in medical institutions. The inspection covered multiple aspects, including OPD and IPD services, building conditions, Chief Minister Free Medicine & Diagnostic Scheme, emergency rooms, Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, staff honorarium, cleanliness, toilets, and conditions of bedsheets in wards. Efforts will be made to ensure all institutions fully meet IPHS norms.
She also noted that during the inspections, 6,500 institutions completed gap re-assessment according to IPHS norms.

Institutions Inspected—
Rathore stated that inspections included:

  • 1 Medical College Hospital
  • 31 District Hospitals
  • 109 Sub-District Hospitals
  • 14 Satellite Hospitals
  • 816 CHCs
  • 2,622 PHCs
  • 8,581 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs

Officials from state, zonal, district, and block levels, along with district administration teams, participated in the inspection drive.

98% Institutions Delivering Quality OPD Services; Strong Implementation of Free Medicine Scheme—
During the inspections, 98% of institutions were found providing standard OPD services.
Similarly, 76% buildings were in satisfactory condition, 87% institutions effectively operated the free diagnostic scheme, and 88% showed proper implementation of the Chief Minister Free Medicine Scheme.

Cleanliness, Emergency Rooms, and Toilets to Be Improved Soon—
Cleanliness inside and outside most institutions was found satisfactory. However, improvements are needed in emergency rooms, toilets, ward bedsheets, and staff honorarium. Corrective actions in these areas will be taken soon.
