Faridabad Car Dealer Detained in Delhi Red Fort Blast Probe

Faridabad, Nov 2025 : Haryana police have detained a second-hand car dealer in Faridabad who allegedly sold the Hyundai i20 used in the Delhi Red Fort Metro Station explosion to suspects Dr. Mohammed Umar and Tariq. The dealer is being questioned regarding the sale, and authorities have seized all related documents, sources said on Wednesday.

Investigations have revealed that the Hyundai i20, registered in Haryana, was purchased from a second-hand car dealership located in Sector 37, Faridabad. The vehicle was later used in the November 10 blast near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, which killed at least eight people and injured dozens. Following the explosion, high alerts were issued across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with security heightened at crowded public places and religious sites.

The probe comes amid heightened scrutiny of terror networks in the region. Earlier, police had busted a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad, seizing 2,900 kg of explosives and a large cache of arms and ammunition. Two Jammu & Kashmir-based doctors, Adil Ahmad Rather and Muzammil, associated with the terror outfits, were arrested, which sources say may have triggered panic within the module and ultimately led to the Red Fort blast.

As per police sources, the Hyundai i20 changed hands multiple times before being used in the attack. It was initially owned by Mohammad Salman, apprehended on Monday night. The car was then sold to Nadeem, followed by the Faridabad second-hand dealer now under interrogation. Subsequently, the vehicle passed to Aamir, Tariq, and finally Mohammed Umar. Both Aamir and Tariq are also under investigation for possible links to the Faridabad terror module.

CCTV footage has provided crucial details about the vehicle’s movements. The white Hyundai i20 was parked near the Red Fort Metro Station parking area around 3:19 p.m. and remained there for nearly three hours before exiting at approximately 6:48 p.m., during a period of heavy crowd movement, raising concerns about timing and intent.

A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) Sections 16 and 18, along with provisions of the Explosives Act and several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Authorities continue to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the blast, emphasizing that all possible angles—including vehicle ownership, local facilitators, and terror module linkages—are being thoroughly investigated. The detention of the Faridabad car dealer and ongoing interrogation is expected to provide further clarity on how the weaponized vehicle reached Delhi and who facilitated the attack.
